Lexington Christian pitcher/outfielder Lincoln Henzman is considered the top baseball prospect in the state of Kentucky in the Class of 2014.
And the University of Louisville is making a major pitch for his services.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-hander recently took a peek at the renovations on the stadium at U of L and said the Cardinals are recruiting him hard along with “pretty much the whole” Southeastern Conference.
Henzman is ranked as the No. 45 right-handed pitcher in the country and No. 145 overall in the ’14 class by Perfect Game.
”I don’t think I will be ready to make any decisions soon,” Henzman said. “But I have a lot of schools after me and Louisville is one of them.
”It’s all pretty cool.”
Henzman said a close friend of his is Tates Creek’s Devin Hairston, who is a ’14 prospect and has already committed to Kentucky. But that likely won’t have any impact on his decision.
”I don’t think that much of it,” Hairston said. “(UK) is not on me all of that much and Louisville is. I really like the Louisville staff.
I was up there a few weeks ago and went to Churchill Downs. (Jim Patterson Stadium) is right there, so I went to look at it. It looks nice (the expansion).”
Henzman has a fast ball that has hit 92 mph but he said his best pitch is his change up.
