To no one’s surprise, the Most Outstanding Player Award goes to UCF’s dynamic shooting guard, Jermaine Taylor, who led the conference in scoring with a 26.6 ppg. average, setting a new C-USA record. The Memphis Tigers continue to flex their muscles, as they stay perfect in conference and are the hottest team in the nation with 19 consecutive wins. Rice and Marshall both recorded their first conference road victories of the season, as Rice overcame a record-setting performance by the great Jermaine Taylor. Houston and SMU were game opponents, but couldn’t seal the deal on the road.

Despite a game-high 35 points from senior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.), the UCF men’s basketball team was not able to top Houston Saturday as the Cougars held on for a 77-72 Conference USA win at Hofheinz Pavilion. The 30-point performance was third-straight for Taylor.

HUNTINGTON - Marshall played like the team that had won four in a row, which Houston had done to move into second in Conference USA men's basketball's standings. The Herd forced the Cougars into 11 turnovers, matched them with 30 rebounds and shot nearly 59 percent from the floor. Another week has gone by in the C-USA and what else is new, Memphis is undefeated. John Calipari’s Tigers are playing stifling defense and some close early season contests have turned into blowouts. Senior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.) totaled 26 points, but it was not enough as the UCF men’s basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end as Houston posted a 97-69 win at the UCF Arena Wednesday. The Conference USA contest was played in front of 5,868 fans.

Marshall had a long trip after an emotional loss to West Virginia Wednesday when they faced one of Conference USA's undefeated teams in the Houston Cougars. The Herd nailed its first three threes, but the UH knocked down 10-of-20 from behind the arc in the first half and 14 treys in the game to win 71-58 over Marshall. The Herd falls to 10-8, 2-3 in C-USA while Houston is 15-3, 4-0 in league play. Full Story
