They gained yards, scored points, made big plays and even collected turnovers. Trouble was, for most all the good things Mississippi State could do, Houston was able to do a bit better and more often. Especially in the fourth quarter, as the visiting Cougars converted a pair of Bulldog gifts into touchdowns for a 31-24 victory at Scott Field.   Full Story

RUNNING BACK ANTHONY DIXON: Q: That was your fourth-straight 100-yard game, but can you enjoy it? “Not as much as I like. I set out this year to play tough, lead my team to victories, and have fun doing it. It’s just not happening right now. There’s some positives to take with it but you can’t really enjoy it like I want to.”   Full Story

Sure, fullbacks by nature are fellow whose whole existence is focused on contact. But Patrick Hanrahan takes this idea to a whole ‘nother level. He doesn’t wait for opening kickoff to start hitting folk; the Bulldog blocking back and special teams ace begins knocking heads in his own locker room. Specifically the skull of fellow back Anthony Dixon.   Full Story

One would reasonably figure Bulldog defensive backs are on proverbial pins-and-needles to face the game’s most proficient passing attack. Well, they are. But not exactly with the expected anxiety. “It’s really exciting,” said SS Charles Mitchell. “They threw the ball 75 times last week, so me and Marcus Washington were talking. He was like, that’s 75 chances to make plays on the ball!”   Full Story

The 2009 season has to be better than 2008 especially since this was a team full of freshmen. Coach Jones knows what he is doing, but it will simply take time to get players into his offense that can run the show as well as players like Colt Brennan did at Hawaii.   Full Story
